Chen said the CFPA has helped build four schools, six roads, 96 village bridges and six township hospitals.

Of the 200 million yuan highlighted in the report which has not disclosed its specific purpose, or was unaccounted for, Tao said some charity groups still had to provide a full breakdown of their planned spending.

The Chongqing Red Cross Foundation, for example, had said it raised 8.48 million yuan mainly for reconstruction after the earthquake, but as yet it had not make public its specific plan of how to use the donations, said Tao.

Deng Guosheng, a professor at the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University, said the Ya'an disaster area still has some pressing needs for aid, including projects involved in providing psychological comfort to victims and close cooperation between nationwide charitable foundations, autonomous organizations and local organizations

The psychological comfort is especially important for children, young people and the bereaved ones, he said.

Deng also advises setting up a cooperation platform for these public welfare organizations in Sichuan province in order to provide practical and effective support for the quake-hit area.
