Gansu to get fund for quake reconstruction
LANZHOU - China's top economic planner has allocated 100 million yuan ($16.31 million) for infrastructure reconstruction in quake-hit Gansu province in Northwest China.
The fund, allocated by the National Development and Reform Commission, will be used for rebuilding transport, water conservancy and other public facilities in Minxian and Zhangxian counties, according to the Gansu provincial development and reform commission.
A 6.6-magnitude quake jolted the border areas of Minxian and Zhangxian counties at 7:45 am on Monday morning, killing at least 95 people and injuring another 1,461.
Heavy rain has been falling in the quake zone since Wednesday, hampering the transport of relief materials, said local authorities.
