Senior China planner investigated

BEIJING - Liu Tienan, a deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), is being investigated over suspected serious disciplinary violations, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China said Sunday.
Born in October 1954, Liu has served as a deputy director of the NDRC since 2008. The NDRC is a super ministry that sets broad economic policies and approves major investments.
