No timetable yet for rollout of urbanization process: NDRC
China's urbanization program does not have a set timetable, a scholar close to national policymaking bodies involved said on Monday.
Li Tie, head of China Center for Urban Development, a think tank under the National Development and Reform Commission, said the widely anticipated gathering of opinions from various stakeholders has no timetable yet.
The commission, China's top economic planner, is the main driving force behind the country's first comprehensive urbanization outline.
Other ministries involved include the Ministry of Land and Resources and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
During the now-ended National People's Congress, Zhang Ping, a former head of the commission, said that the outline was expected in the first half of this year.
Chinese media reported that an outline would identify some key metropolis clusters across China, and detail 40 trillion yuan ($6.43 trillion) in investment over the next decade.
