Ice train begins trial operations

Photo taken on Oct 8, 2012 shows the waiting room of the Dalian North Railway Station, a terminus of the new Harbin-Dalian High-Speed Railway, in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province. China on Monday tested the world's first alpine high-speed rail line, which threads through the country's three northeastern provinces. The new high-speed railway is expected to reduce travel time between Harbin and Dalian to four hours. The weather-proof CRH380B bullet trains serving the line can accomodate temperatures from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius above zero. [Photo/Xinhua]
