BEIJING - The number of logistics parks has mushroomed in China over the past several years, as local authorities have been keen to build logistics centers across the country, according to an industrial survey report released on Friday.
Currently, about 754 logistics parks have been built, are under construction or are being planned in China, more than triple the amount in 2006, according to a survey report compiled by the the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the China Society of Logistics.
Just under half the parks are operational and about one-third are under construction, the report said.
In comparison, only 26 percent of the total number of logistics parks were operational in 2008, the report said.
Survey results showed that rent for warehouses and offices accounted for most of the parks' revenues over the years, while some parks have depended more on land price appreciation, tax incentives and state subsidies for income.
