Nokia to adjust operations in China

Mobile phone makers, including ZTE Corp, HTC Corp, and Samsung, have already provided Windows-based mobile phones. But in the first quarter, the system accounted for only 0.7 percent of all smartphones in China, compared with Android's 76.7 percent, according to Analysys International.

However, Nokia has a well developed sales network, which enables it to reach users not only in big cities but also in third- and fourth-tier cities across China, and this is what it can take advantage of in the future, apart from its sound branding, said analysts.

The company forecast its loss in the second quarter to be greater than that in the first quarter, and that the negative effects of its transition to a Windows-based mobile phone business will continue into the third quarter.

Nokia's negative earnings forecast and the overhaul in the company have dragged down Nokia's share price and market value.

Nokia said 3,700 of the planned 10,000 job losses would be in Finland.
