Roewe 950

The saloon car made by Shanghai-based SAIC Group is the domestic carmaker's top-of-the-line model under its homegrown Roewe brand. It hit the market last week priced between 188,900 to 319,900 yuan.

Size is one of its most notable advantages. The car is 4,996 mm long, 1,857 mm wide and 1,502 mm high with a 2,837 mm wheelbase.

The car shares the same 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter engines as the Buick Legal and Lacrosse built at the joint venture between SAIC and General Motors. It also has a 3.0-liter engine option that offers maximum power of 190 kW and top torque of 296 Nm. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard.

The car's target market is successful businesspeople, where it will compete with joint-venture-made models like the Volkswagen Magotan, Skoda Superb, Nissan Teana and Honda Accord.

The Roewe lineup also includes two compacts - the 350 and 550 - the 750 mid-sized sedan and the W5 SUV.
