BEIJING - China plans to renovate 2.65 million dilapidated houses for poor rural households in the central and western regions this year, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) said Monday.

Also, 90,000 dilapidated houses will be renovated into energy-efficient housing units in northeast, northwest and north China and Tibet autonomous region as well, it added.
The government will allocate up to 8,000 yuan ($1,234) for each household to subsidize the project.
In March, the government earmarked 10 billion yuan in the first subsidizing phase, according to the MOHURD.
