Shandong's mechano-electronic exports up nearly 24%

East China's Shandong province generated $6.54 billion in foreign trade of machinery and electronics in April, a rise of 15.9 percent over the same period of last year, according to the provincial bureau of commerce.

The total included $4.28 billion of exports, up 26.4 percent year-on-year, and 2.26 billion dollars of imports, up 0.1 percent.

Machinery and electronics trade with Japan amounted to $770 million in April, up 21.1 percent year-on-year, but down 15.4 percent month-on-month.

The total included $300 million of exports, up 63.1 percent year-on-year, but down 11.8 percent month-on-month, and 470 million dollars of imports, up 4 percent year-on-year, but down 17.6 percent month on month.

Between January and April, Shandong sold abroad $15.62 billion worth of machinery and electronics, up 23.8 percent year-on-year. The exports accounted for 40.3 percent of the province's total.
