China's foreign trade in textiles and garments amounted to $53.78 billion in the first quarter of this year, a rise of 24.2 percent over the same period of last year, according to China Chamber of Commerce for import & Export of Textiles.
The total included $48.63 billion of exports, up 24 percent year-on-year, and $5.15 billion of imports, up 25.8 percent.
Between January and March, China sold $10.29 billion worth of textiles and garments to the European Union, up 21.2 percent year-on-year, 6.75 billion dollars worth to the United States, up 12.6 percent, and $5.84 billion worth to Japan, up 25.1 percent.
China's textile exports to ASEAN members stood at $3.83 billion, up 38.7 percent year-on-year, and its textile imports from ASEAN, 450 million dollars, up 39.5 percent.
