BEIJING -- Data released Monday by China's labor department, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, showed 231,700 foreigners worked in China by the end of last year, compared with 223,000 in 2009.
Meanwhile, the number of people from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan who worked on the Chinese mainland reached 89,800 by the end of 2010, slightly rising from 86,000 in 2009.
Nationwide, 11.68 million jobs were created last year as 5.47 million laid-off workers successfully found jobs again. Also, the urban registered unemployment rate stood at 4.1 percent, the data showed.
