Zhan Wenzhang, deputy general manager of Beijing Electric Vehicle Co Ltd, told Xinhua that the C30, a new energy car with intellectual property rights that will be the first model to go on sale, can use pure electricity for acceleration, brake assistance, power steering and air conditioning.

The C30 can be charged by the system under the State Grid, and every full charge consumes 17kwh of electricity and allows a driving distance of 100km, with a maximum speed of 130km per hour.

BAIC will produce 3,500 pure electric vehicles in 2011 for both private and public transportation.
