Beijing Etown is showing its achievements at the 14th China Beijing International High-tech Expo, running from May 17-22.
The Etown exhibit focuses on new technological developments of enterprises in the area or who invest in it, as well as the area's competitive advantages and what local officials have planned for the next five years.
It also sets out the area's outstanding investment environment, strong support from favorable policies, professional services, and sound development prospects.
More than 40 area enterprises were invited to show their proudest developments at the high-tech expo, one of the nation's most important.
These include cloud computing-based products such as a cloud server and cloud container, all developed at high-tech enterprises attracted to Etown by its Auspicious Cloud Plan, something that the Beijing government began to push the cloud computing industry.
Cloud computing refers to providing computation resources on demand via a computer network. Users can submit a task, such as word processing, to a service provider, without having the necessary software or hardware.
IT experts consider the technology a way to overhaul the Internet. Etown officials predict that, by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), cloud computing-related industries in the area will have an annual gross output of 200 billion yuan ($30.8 billion).
The area has also tried to pursue more environmentally friendly development patterns and, in May, was designated the first national eco-friendly industrial park model by the central government.
Its wastewater recycling facility went into operation in July 2008, and can process 20,000 tons of industrial waste-water daily. An expansion project is underway and, upon completion, will double the facility's current capacity.
Etown's exhibit also describes an aggressive plan to establish six industrial parks including China New Media Industrial Park, Biopharmaceutical Industrial Park, New Energy and Automobiles Industrial Park, Manufacturing-Oriented Services Industrial Park, Military and Civilian Industrial Park, and New Airport Industrial Park.
