Chinese equities dropped more than 2 percent Thursday, as investors stayed on sidelines to wait for clues of economic policies from China's annual parliamentary meetings due to open Friday.
The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 2.38 percent, or 299.8 points, to close at 12,312.89 points.
Combined turnover Tuesday was 259.3 billion yuan ($37.96 billion), up from 239.4 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
