BEIJING: China's daily electricity generation during the week-long Spring Festival holiday rose nearly 30 percent year-on-year, figures from the power dispatch center of State Grid Corporation of China revealed Saturday.

The center attributed the power generation increase to low temperatures as well as increasing residential and commercial power use on the back of an economic recovery nationwide.
Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, fell on February 14 this year. It is the most important Chinese traditional festival.
