Among the 13 cars to make their global debut, BMW will make the world premier of two new models, Audi will display its A3 sedan and Porsche AG will launch its first four-seat sports car, the Porsche Panamera. The figure doesn't include domestic carmakers’ new cars, Wang said.

Global auto giants all look up to China automotive industry; and they all treat Auto Shanghai 2009 as the international A-level class auto show, some of whom have even selected Auto Shanghai 2009 as a crucial show among all A-class auto show.

Though global auto giants reduce their cost or some even withdraw from some world auto shows, most of them are still enthusiastic about joining Shanghai auto show, said Harald Muller, CEO of Munich International Expo Group (MMG), a co-organizer of the Shanghai auto show.

More than 1,500 automakers and auto-parts manufacturers from 25 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the biennial auto show this year, which will be held from April 20 to April 28 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, according to the organizers yesterday.

More than 600,000 visitors are expected to attend the show, up from 500,000 for the previous show, said Gu Chunting, vice president of Shanghai International Exhibition Co Ltd.
