China's social insurance revenue tops $200b

China's social insurance revenue has topped 1.36 trillion yuan ($200.2 billion) by the end of November, up 14.8 percent from a the same period a year ago, official figures showed Friday.

As the core of the nation's social security system, social insurance involves five categories of pension, unemployment, medical, work injury and maternity insurance.

Pension insurance has covered 232.38 million urban residents by the end of last month, and the insurance income for urban enterprise retiree has surpassed 1,200 yuan a month, according to figures released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

Unemployment insurance has covered 126 million, a rise of 2.12 million from a year ago. Work injury insurance increased 9.67 million from a year earlier to 148 million.

More than 1.2 billion people including 390 million urban dwellers and 830 million rural residents are expected to enjoy the basic medical insurance by the end of this year.
