Overcapacity blamed for protracted prices fall


China's steel prices have fallen for the seventh consecutive week largely because domestic supplies were increasing at a faster pace than demand was. However, it was worth noting that some changes have taken place for certain products. Spot prices of construction steel have showed signs of recovery in Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Chongqing after slowing their downtrend for three weeks, but those in the Shanghai and Hangzhou markets remained low due to high stocks.
