Profit of China's medical sector up 22.4% in Jan-Feb

China's medical sector saw profit up 22.4 percent year on year, the fastest among all industries, to 11.5 billion yuan ($1.69 billion)through January to February, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Friday.

The industrial added-value grew 13.5 percent from the same period a year ago, 9.7 percentage higher than the average industrial production.

The output value of chemical medicine rose 14 percent, and that for Chinese medicine and the biomedicine increased 20.4 percent and 21.1 percent from a year ago.

Affected by the falling external demand, medicine export value growth slowed to three percent in the first two months, 17.4 percentage points than the same time last year.

The export of Chinese medicine rose 7.2 percent year on year, but that for the chemical medicine dropped 5.6 percent.

China is expected to unveil massive reform plan to equalize medical service and lower medicine prices to relieve people's grievances of the high medical costs.
