Chinese heavy machinery maker Sany Heavy Industry Co plans to recruit 1,000 graduates this year and vows not to slash jobs and cut salary, its president said.

The Hunan-based company, which makes concrete pumps and road rollers, will assign those newly recruits to strengthen its R&D capacities, Xiang Wenbo, president of the company, said in an interview with China Daily.

"We will also not cut jobs and slash pays for our ordinary employees this year," Xiang said at the ongoing annual session of the National People's Congress.

"We have confidence in our company and Chinese economy, so we just want to increase our human resources reserves," Xiang said.

Sany Heavy announced earlier this year that its chairman will only receive 1 yuan annual pay this year and its border members will cut their salary by as much as 90 percent, and its senior management 50 percent, to cope with the economic downturn.

But the machinery maker, which has recently announced a 1 billion Euro investment in Germany, said it will not cut jobs and salary for other employees.
