Social security expenses to be up by 17.6%

The central government will allocate 293 billion yuan ($42.85 billion) on social security.

The money is expected to be 43.9 billion yuan more than that of last year, an increase of 17.6 percent from the last year, Premier Wen Jiabao said at the parliament's annual session held today.

He noted that local governments will also increase their input on social security.
