IOSCO vice chairman

Updated: 2008-06-02 14:52 Shang Fulin, China Securities Regulatory Commission chairman, was re-elected vice chairman of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) executive committee. He was elected during the 33rd annual conference of IOSCO, which took place in Paris, France, from May 25 to 29. It was the second time he had served as vice chairman since 1996. The new term will be two years. For the sixth consecutive occasion, China was also re-elected as a member of the IOSCO's executive committee. More than 750 representatives from worldwide securities regulatory institutions, international organizations, stock exchanges and financial institutions participated in the conference. The topics mainly focused on the sub-prime crisis, worldwide financial market regulation, financial innovation, hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds. IOSCO is the leading international organization in terms of securities regulation. It is headquartered in Madrid, Spain. China joined as a formal member in 1995.
