Tourism: Macao reports record visitor arrivals in 2007

Macao Special Administrative Region's visitor arrivals for 2007 surged by 22.8 percent to an all-time record of 27 million, according to official statistics released on Monday.

The majority of visitors came from the Chinese mainland, up 24.1 percent to over 14 million in 2007, accounted for more than 55 percent of the total, while those from China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province grew by 17.8 percent and 0.5 percent respectively, said the government's Statistics and Census Service.

The statistics also showed that analyzed by mode of transport, visitor arrivals by sea, land and air increased by 17.3 percent, 26.3 percent and 19.2 percent over 2006 respectively.
