Income gap widens among insurance salespeople

The annual income of salespeople in the insurance sector averaged 17,900 yuan (US$2,316) last year, an increase of 13.5 percent from a year earlier, data from the insurance regulator showed.

China had insurance salespersons of more than 1.55 million as of the end of last year. The per-capita premiums they collected amounted to 162,000 yuan, up 10 percent, according to the statistics of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

The annual salary for top earners in the industry reached 1 million yuan while for those at the bottom was less than 10,000 yuan, reported the Beijing Business.
