Kazakhstan to expand rail transport

A subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the national railway company of the Republic of Kazakhstan, set up a representative office in Urumqi, Northwest China'sXinjiangUygur Autonomous Region on November 20, 2006.

The office will be responsible for strengthening cooperation with China in railway transportation and acquiring a better knowledge of the Chinese market.

In September and October, the company transported 880 vehicles from Japan to Alma-ata in southeastern Kazakhstan via ports in East China and the Alataw Port in Xinjiang. The company also plans to transport 1,600 vehicles by this route at the end of the year.
