Shanghai boosts renewable energy development

Regulations to boost the development of renewable energy and optimize the energy
structure during the 11th Five-Year Program period (2006-2010).
During the period, Shanghai plans to increase wind power to 200,000 or
300,000 kilowatts (kW) and photovoltaic (PV) power to seven to ten megawatts
(MW); construct ten solar energy buildings yearly, develop solar water heater
technology, and build garbage power-generating projects.
Shanghai will support three or four PV cell key companies, and enhance
research and development on above-2 MW wind power in a bid to develop renewable
industry.
