Hu reiterates commitment to yuan reform

President Hu Jintao has reiterated China's commitment to push ahead with the reform of its yuan exchange rate mechanism in an active and steady manner, the Xinhua news agency reported.

Hu made the comments when meeting President George W. Bush at the ongoing G8 Summit in St Petersburg, Russia.

China will continue to take steps to expand imports from the US and enhance the protection of intellectual property rights, Hu was also quoted as saying.

Hu also said China hopes the US will loosen restrictions on high-tech products exports to China and provide a level platform for Chinese companies' trade and investment activities in the US.
