A second Beijing airport would be located outside the boundary of the city. The news about "Unifying the economic planning of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei's economy and quickening the pace of selecting the site for Beijing's second airpot" released by Department of Communication and Transportation of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has set the tone for the site selecion.

A concerned person said as the conjunct function of the second Beijing airport was stressed, the new airport would not solely provide service for Beijing, but for the co-use of the three regions of Beijing, Tianjin and Heibei. The person said the idea was agreed upon by concerned authorities and experts. The radius and radiant capability of the airport were the important indexes that should be taken into account.

The site location has not been confirmed by authorities. However, according to Luo Yameng, chief editor of Chinacsw, the opinion of building the airport outside the boundary of Beijing dominated the discussion.

He said that the selection would benefit the city development circle involving Beijing, Tianjin and Heibei.

The city of Langfang in neighbouring Hebei Province won more support among the proposed sites. Luo said that Langfang has the advantages of radiant capability and convenience since it lies between Beijing and Tianjin and also is in the precincts of Hebei Province.

According to public information released by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Urban Planning, the local government should communicate and coordinate with Tianjin and Hebei authorities to jointly produce the proposal for the construction site of the second Beijing airport.
