There are now 21 foreign invested travel agencies in China, according to the latest statistics from China National Tourism Administration.

There are seven solely foreign-funded travel agencies, and 14 joint venture companies. 13 travel agencies are in Beijing, three in Guangdong, three in Shanghai, one in Yunnan and one in Tianjin.

The sales revenue of the foreign invested travel agencies was 2.08 percent of the total revenues of all of China's agencies on international travel.

The number of agencies specializing in international travel was 9.44 percent of all China's travel agencies and they employed 35.68 percent of all travel agency staff.

The number of travel agencies that booked domestic travel accounted for 90.56 percent of all of China's travel agencies.
