Intelligent projectors manufacturer Xgimi Technology Co Ltd launched three new no-screen TVs in Beijing on Wednesday which includes a 3D full-HD no-screen TV H1 and two types of rear-projection UHD no screen TV.
The H1 could cast a six-meter-wide screen, equivalent to 36 units of 50-inch TV, with a 1080p resolution and 900 ANSI lunmens. It is also equipped with the most advanced chips from Texas Instruments (TI) and Mstar and built-in Harman/Kardon stereo.
"The no-screen TV replaces the traditional LCD screen with projection imaging, but the quality of graphics and sound is the same as the traditional TV, but the area of imaging is much bigger, which could be measured by meters, not inches," said Zhong Bo, the founder and CEO of Xgimi Technology.
Zhong estimates the no-screen TV will overthrow the traditional TV within the next five years.
The sales of Xgimi no-screen TV reached a 300 percent year-on-year growth last year, with domestic market shares of 51.4 percent, according to the company.
Founded in 2013, the Chengdu-based company finished 100 million yuan of round-A funding from CDF-Capital in 2014 and a 300-million-yuan Pre-B fundraising from Mango Media Communication Co Ltd last year.
It has established cooperation with search engine Baidu Inc's Baidu Music and Hunan TV's streaming site Mango TV, which offers more than one million songs and 300,000 hours of movie and TV contents.
The H1 is available for reservation on JD.com, and priced at 4,999 yuan. It will be officially sold on April 1.
The other two rear-projection UHD no screen TV including T1 and T2, will tend to high-end users and commercial application, said Zhong, adding the sales of the no screen TV in 2016 are expected to reach 600,000 units.
