AcFun, a Chinese online video site featuring "bullet screen" function, announced on Thursday that it has landed $60 million in a new funding amid the growing popularity of animation and comics among the young Chinese.
The funding from SB China Capital is only months after AcFun raised as much as $50 million from China's online video giant Youku Tudou in August 2015.
AcFun, which was founded in 2007, is one of earliest online sites in China that features a bullet screen function, which allows viewers to type comments to zoom across the screen like bullets.
The feature is increasingly popular among young Chinese as they can interact with other viewers while watching online videos.
Liu Tianmin, partner of SB China Capital, said in a statement that the culture and entertainment industry with a focus on younger generation is expected to maintain a rapid growth in the coming years.
"Bullet screen online video sites, such as AcFun, are very attractive to the young generation of China's Internet users," he said, adding the company doesn't rule out the possibility to make further investment in AcFun.
