Outsourcing service in Nanjing sees big growth

Outsourcing service contracts in Nanjing city, capital of Jiangsu province, amounted to $2.21 billion in 2009, 178 percent more than in 2008, and implemented $1.8 billion, growing 253 percent year-on-year.

Offshore outsourcing contracts in the eastern city rose 192 percent in 2009 to $1.32 billion, and implemented $1.03 billion, 232 percent more than in 2008, according to statistic by the Ministry of Commerce.

Nanjing, one of China's 20 Model Cities of Outsourcing Service, has established five national-level demonstration bases and two provincial-level demonstration bases for the service outsourcing industry. Overseas service centers were also established in the US and Finland to receive orders.

The city had a total of 486 service outsourcing enterprises, employing 115,500 million people in 2009.
