Nanjing to hold service outsourcing summit

The third China International Service Outsourcing Cooperation Conference (CISOCC) is to kick off in Nanjing, Jiangsu province on June 11.

This is the third time for Nanjing to hold the event, as the city aims to build itself into a leader in China's outsourcing industry.

As of 2009, Nanjing accommodates 486 companies engaged in service outsourcing businesses, which employ 115,500 staff, according to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce.

Contract value of this sector jumped 178 percent year-on-year to $2.21 billion in 2009. Offshore contract value took more than half of total, reaching $1.32 billion, a growth of 192 percent year-on-year.

Nanjing is well positioned to foray in the service outsourcing industry, as it boasts a huge talent pool, and is able to offer the most convenient forms of telecommunication and transportation. The historic city's humanistic environment is also a plus as to attract investors.

To further boost the development of the service outsourcing sector, Nanjing has offered a slew of favorable policies. It provided more than 25 million yuan ($3.66 million) to support the sector, and offered trainings to 30,000 people times.
