Natural conditions and historyJiangsu Province is located in the Yangtze River Delta of the eastern coast of China. It covers an area of 102,600 km2 and has a population of 74.06 million. The province is divided into 13 cities, which are directly under the jurisdiction of the province, 54 counties (cities) and 52 districts.

Jiangsu lies in the middle latitude. Its climate is moist and it has four distinct seasons. The land is broad and flat with varieties of lakes and lush plants. It has always been well-known as "a land of fish and rice".

Jiangsu is the birthplace of Wu and Yue Dynasties as well as Yangtze River culture. The scenery of these places are beautiful and impressing, such as the historical remains of six ancient dynasties in Nanjing, the classical gardens in Suzhou, wonderful scenes of Taihu Lake in Wuxi, culture of Han and Tang dynasty in Yangzhou, relics of Qin and Han dynasty in Xuzhou, fairy land of the sea in Lianyungang, mountain temples in Zhenjiang, studded great caverns and sea of bamboos in Yixing.
