China auto output, sales set new records in 2016
BEIJING - Auto sales and output in China, the world's biggest auto market, continued to expand during the first 11 months, hitting an all-time high.
From January to November, about 25 million cars were sold in China, up 14.1 percent year on year, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Vehicle production rose 14.3 percent from a year ago to top 25 million units.
New energy vehicles remained popular, with both output and sales more than double last year's.
The continued growth may be due to tax reductions for smaller cars and booming demand for SUVs, backed by signs of a stabilizing economy.
