As clean energy, emissions reduction, recycling, and low carbon technology become the next trend, and a green economy is seen as an alternative, China needs to get busy building an environmentally friendly society.
The Chinese government says it is willing to learn from other countries. As an important part of the world economy, it wants advanced products and technology to develop a green economy and to balance economic growth and environmental protection.
Accordingly, the China International Green Industry Expo 2010, scheduled for Nov 24 to 27 in Beijing, is a part of that effort.
It has the approval of the State Council and is being hosted by 12 national commissions and departments as the largest top-level event in this field in China.
The expo will be a place to exhibit the latest green industry and green economy developments worldwide. Its two themes are "green economy and mutual benefits" and its aim is to provide more opportunities to understand and to tap into China's green economy.
The organizers said they hope the event will encourage more companies to enter the clean energy, environmental protection and low-carbon technology sectors.
The opening ceremony is expected to attract high-ranking government officials, foreign political figures, renowned experts and company managers.
The exhibits will cover a wide range, from clean energy like solar, wind and nuclear power to emissions reductions with new materials and vehicles to environmental protection through waste water treatment, low-carbon technology, and recycling.
It will have a pavilion designed to cover eco-friendly industries from a macro-economic perspective. And it will reflect the balance between humans and nature, Chinese policies on environmental protection, and boosting international cooperation.
Another special pavilion will focus on technology for solving energy and environmental problems. Some multinationals will have their green technology applications on display, here.
In addition, there will be summits and forums taking place for discussions on, for example, the "green economy leading the future development of the world".
Other activities will include business dialog and legal consultation.
"This is a rare opportunity for foreign companies to enter the Chinese market," said one member of the organizing committee.
Companies that are interested in taking part in the expo should be very good in their field. They can show their research and advanced technology if they are eligible to participate, the organizers caution.
Their products and technology will be subject to expert appraisals in this way.
The organizers will provide free booths but exhibitors will pay an additional charge for any special space.
Agencies, TV and radio stations, newspapers and mainstream websites will cover the expo and inform, the world, through news updates, interviews and special programs.
A list of the names of participants, promotion videos, and company introductions can be found on the expo's official website.
