China is willing to maintain close communication and coordination with Germany for a successful G20 summit in Hamburg next year, President Xi Jinping said Monday.

China will not change its stance of firmly supporting the European integration process, and believes that Europe is capable and wise enough to face the challenges, Xi said.

Xi made the remarks while meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel after the conclusion of this year's summit in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

Mentioning that China and Germany shared an all-round strategic partnership, Xi called on all parties to work together to face the challenges as the current world situation is experiencing profound and complicated changes.

Beijing and Berlin should strengthen the foundation of mutual trust, maintain high-level exchanges, and consult each other on major issues of common concern in a timely manner, according to Xi.

The Chinese president called for enriched cooperation between the two countries, implementation of all consensuses reached, and cooperation in innovation.

Exchanges in fields ranging from education, science and technology, culture, health, tourism as well as innovation and youth, should be expanded, Xi said.

Xi said the two countries should strengthen communication and coordination in multilateral venues, to make contributions to peace, stability and development of the world.

The president noted that through joint efforts, the Hangzhou summit achieved positive results. China appreciates that Germany is willing to keep innovation, structural reform, development and the digital economy as major topics for next year's summit.

Merkel congratulated China on the success of the summit, adding that the theme and results were echoed by the vision of the Hamburg summit, and that she expected China would support preparations for the Hamburg summit.

Germany is willing to strengthen high-level communication and cooperation in economy and trade, investment and development with China, as well as deepen cultural exchanges, according to Merkel, who added that Germany is committed to promoting development of Europe-China relations.
