BEIJING - "Warcraft" reported healthy office takings, ringing up 1.03 billion yuan ($156 million) in its debut week, beating "X-Men: Apocalypse" to be the most popular movie in the week ending June 12, China Film News reported Tuesday.

The cinematic adaptation of the video game franchise hit Chinese theaters on June 8, two days earlier than the North American market release.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" dropped to second place in the week, making 260 million yuan. It has earned 647 million yuan since its release on June 3.

"Alice Through the Looking Glass" came in third over the seven days, pulling in 43.3 million yuan.

Fourth place went to Hollywood animation "The Angry Birds Movie," with 36 million yuan. It has made more than 500 million yuan since it was released on May 20.
