YANGON - The Muse Central Economic Zone of Myanmar, which is located near its border with China in eastern Myanmar, will be completed in the fiscal year 2017-18, official media reported Wednesday.

The zone is set up on about 120 hectares of land on the river's edge near Muse township in northern Shan State. It is being implemented in cooperation with the Shan State government and New Starlight Company.

The project is undertaken with a fund of over $51 million.

Local authorities approved plans for the Muse Central Economic Zone in early 2013 to boost cross-border trade at the most important crossing between Myanmar and China.

The zone will include trade zones, condominiums, high-profile branch offices, a finished jade products market, 300 high standard houses, three hotels, supermarkets, police stations, fire stations and one ethnic village.

At present, 80 percent of the infrastructural construction has been completed.
