Mayo clinic introduces self-diagnosis system to China

(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2015-08-24 17:20

The Mayo Clinic, one of the leading medical practice groups in the world, launched its intelligent self-diagnosis system in China on Tuesday.

The system was co-developed with Valurise Health Solutions (VHS), a Chinese health care service enterprise, and has been embedded in an app of VHS which has millions of users .

The group will cooperate with hospitals, insurance companies and Internet companies to bring the service to China. Mayo has signed an agreement with Valurise Clinic Care Network to embed the system into its appointment service.

"When using the system, different people may need to answer different questions. If your shoulders feel uncomfortable, for example, the system will not just advise you to see the bone doctor, but it might also detect your heart problems instead," said Tang Ziou, chief executive officer of VHS.

"Our data is not linear but reticular, or big data. All the information is based on the Mayo's practical experience through the last 150 years, which can prevent users from misdiagnosing to a great extent," said Peter L. Streit, executive director of Mayo Clinic's Global Business Solutions.

Based in Minnesota, Mayo Clinic was No 1 in the ranking of the best hospitals in the year 2014-2015 by US News & World Report.
