(China Daily) Updated: 2012-10-26 11:10

Central China's Hunan province plans to build 21 general aviation airports from 2012 to 2030, according to the recently released draft of the Plan for the Development of the General Aviation Industry in Hunan.

The National Development and Reform Commission approved the construction and renovation of more than 20 airports this year, representing a total investment of more than 100 billion yuan ($16 billion), National Business Daily reported on Thursday.

General aviation refers to the use of civil aircraft for activities including flight operations, relief work and meteorological observation.

In July, the State Council issued several suggestions for the development of China's civil aviation industry, and set an ambitious goal for the expansion of the sector.
