China will establish its first professional committee of the coal chemical industry on Friday, according to officials from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
The move will help the central government regulate the booming industry.
The committee will operate under the federation, a non-government and non-profit organization of companies, institutes and associations in the petroleum and chemical industry.
The leaders of the committee will be elected on June 29.
The committee will include coal-made glycol, coal-made gas and coal-made oil projects, with the participation of more than 90 companies in the industry.
The coal chemical industry has attracted huge investment in recent years, especially from local governments.
However, the central government wants to regulate the industry because oversupply has impacted resources, the environment and energy sources in the country.
