The Ministry of Science and Technology last week released a summary of its plans for electric vehicle technology in the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).
Published in the Science and Technology Daily, the ministry's roadmap calls for commercialization of gasoline-electric hybrid technologies before 2015 and increased efforts on all-electric and plug-in hybrid between 2015 and 2020.
After 2020, all-electric drive technology will gradually play a dominant role, the plan said.
It also said that by 2015, China will have 400,000 charging posts and 2,000 charging stations in more than 20 cities to support wider use of electric vehicles.
