Chinese stocks close down 1% Thursday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropping 0.97 percent, or 20.94 points, to close at 2,148.45.
The Shenzhen Component Index shed 1.10 percent, or 95.73 points, to finish at 8,600.26.
