Dongfeng Motor's new EJ02 pure electric has been listed on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's revised list on recommended new energy vehicles, sources reported. The car's introduction on the list is proof of its quality and safety.

The EJ02,is the product of three years of Dongfeng's research and development, testing and certification work. Dongfeng has conducted 65 safety trials, including crash tests and electro-magnetic compatibility, on the car.

The EJ02 is a sedan made for the working class. It has a top speed of 80 km per hour, and on one battery charge can be driven for 110 to 180 km. If charged at night, the car's normal charging costs of 0.57 yuan ($0.089) per KWh/h can be reduced even further. According to Dongfeng, the iron lithium phosphate battery can be charged up to 1,500 times. If the car is driven 50 km daily, 360 days a year, its battery should last for eight years before requiring replacement.

The EJ02's aluminum alloy shell has caught the eye of the media. It has not only passed many safety tests, but also brings the car's weight down to between 770 and 850 kg. The low weight helps to further increase its overall efficiency.
