MACAO - Macao saw the per-capita spending of visitors (excluding gaming expenses) reached 1,482 patacas ($185.25) in the second quarter of 2011, up 3 percent year-on-year, sources said.
Per-capita spending of Chinese mainland visitors was 1,868 patacas ($233.5), according to the figures released on Friday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Analyzed by place of residence, per-capita spending of visitors from Japan, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan amounted to 1,303 patacas ($162), 1,249 patacas ($156), 906 patacas ( $113) and 888 patacas ($111), respectively, the figures indicated.
Meanwhile, per-capita spending of tourists (overnight visitors) increased by five percent year-on-year to 2,502 patacas ($312), and that of same-day visitors increased by 9 percent to 609 patacas ($76).
In the second quarter of 2011, per-capita non-shopping spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors increased by 7 percent year-on-year to 784 patacas ($98), of which expenses on accommodation and food and beverage accounted for 47 percent and 36 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, per-capita shopping spending decreased by 1 percent to 698 patacas ($87.25) in the period.
