Jiangsu's textile exports up nearly 40%

East China's Jiangsu province sold abroad $910 million worth of yarns, fabrics, garments and accessories in the first four months of this year, a rise of 38.2 percent on the same period of last year, according to local customs house.

The European Union, Japan and the United States were the top three target markets of the textile sales.

Between January and April, Jiangsu exported $150 million worth of textile products to the European Union, up 39.6 percent year-on-year, 130 million dollars worth to Japan, up 36.2 percent, and 100 million dollars worth to the United States, up 3.2 percent.

Of the province's total textile exports, 50.5 percent, or $460 million worth, were sold by foreign-funded companies, up 40.7 percent year-on-year.
