South Korea-funded Doosan Infracore China Corp, based in Yantai in Shandong province, has produced and sold more than 100,000 excavators in China, becoming China’s largest manufacturer in the field.

The company last year sold 21,789 excavators, 2,665 forklifts and 3,198 loaders, reporting sales revenues of more than 14 billion yuan, a 62.5 percent increase over the previous year.

Currently, a high-tech production base in Yantai is well under way, with an annual production output of 22,000 excavators, 5,000 loaders and 3,000 forklifts. A new production base is being established in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, with an expected annual production of 8,500 small-sized excavators, Kim Dongzhe, general manager of Doosan Infracore China Corp, said.

"The booming engineering machinery market in China contributes very much to the rapid development of Doosan Group. China has become the major market where the Group pursues its global development strategy,” Jin Yongsheng, proprietor of South Korea Doosan Group, said.

He said the group wants to become the world’s No 3 company in engineering machinery by 2015, with an annual production output of 57,100 excavators, including 38,100 produced in China.
