BEIJING - China has decided to impose anti-dumping tariffs on Nylon 6, or polycaprolactam, imported from the United States, the European Union, Russia and the Taiwan region, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.

The five-year tariffs, ranging from 4 percent to 96.5 percent, will take effect Thursday, the MOC said in a statement on its website.

The dumping of Nylon 6 has caused substantial damage to the domestic industry, the ministry said.
The ministry started an anti-dumping investigation into Nylon 6 imports in April 2009.

In October last year, the ministry started levying a security deposit on Nylon 6 imported from the United States, the European Union, Russia and the Taiwan region as a temporary anti-dumping measure.

Nylon 6 is widely used in the manufacture of hosiery, knitted garments, threads, ropes, filaments, nets and tire cords.
